Newsweek Recognizes Sedgwick as America’s Greatest Workplaces National Top Companies Certified as a Great Place to Work® Fortune Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance Sr National Marine Surveyor PRIMARY PURPOSE :  To be responsible for the inspection of cargo damaged in transit; to investigate and review damage surveys of $1,000,000 or more; and to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages. Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures. Provides written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss. Receives and reviews new claims and maintains data integrity in the claims system. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned. Supports the organization's quality program(s). Travels as required. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Experience Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Skills & Knowledge Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills PC literate, including Microsoft Office products Good customer service skills Good organizational skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies WORK ENVIRONMENT When applicable and appropriate, consideration will be given to reasonable accommodations. Must be able to kneel, squat or bend. Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions. Have the ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reaching/working overhead,  Be able lift/carry up to 50 pounds Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.   Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day. Must have continual use of manual dexterity. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $110k-$120k.
