ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Handles complex losses locally unassisted up to designated authority; assists on larger losses, including handling accounting-based losses (business interruption and stock). Examines claim form and other records to determine insurance coverage. Interviews, telephones, or corresponds with claimant and witnesses regarding claim. Consults police and hospital records; and inspects property damage to determine extent of company's liability and varying methods of investigation according to type of insurance. Estimates cost of repair, replacement, or compensation. Prepares report of findings and negotiates settlement with claimant. Recommends litigation by legal department when settlement cannot be negotiated. Attends litigation hearings. Revises case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs. Prepares loss experience reports to help determine profitability and calculates adequate future rates. Assists with local marketing of the branch; attends professional and social events and develops new business opportunities.  ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned. Supports the organization's quality program(s). Travels as required. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Must have earned the IIA-AIC designation and be actively pursuing another professional insurance designation.  Appropriate adjuster license is required. Experience Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. OBJECTIF PRINCIPAL  : enquêter sur les demandes d’indemnisation internationales, quelle que soit leur taille ou leur complexité, contre des compagnies d’assurance ou autres, pour des pertes ou des dommages personnels, accidentels ou matériels, et tenter d’obtenir un règlement à l’amiable avec les demandeurs d’indemnisation. FONCTIONS ET RESPONSABILITÉS ESSENTIELLES Traiter localement les sinistres complexes sans assistance jusqu’à l’autorité désignée ; apporter son aide pour les sinistres plus importants, y compris le traitement des sinistres de nature comptable (pertes d’exploitation et stocks). Examine les formulaires de demande d’indemnisation et d’autres documents pour déterminer la couverture d’assurance. Interroge, téléphone ou correspond avec le demandeur et les témoins au sujet du sinistre. Consulte les dossiers de la police et de l’hôpital et inspecte les dommages matériels afin de déterminer l’étendue de la responsabilité de l’entreprise et les différentes méthodes d’enquête en fonction du type d’assurance. Estime le coût de la réparation, du remplacement ou de l’indemnisation. Prépare un rapport sur ses conclusions et négocie un règlement avec le demandeur. Recommande au service juridique d’engager une action en justice lorsqu’un règlement ne peut être négocié. Assiste aux audiences de contentieux. Révise les réserves de cas dans les dossiers de sinistres assignés pour couvrir les coûts probables. Prépare les rapports de sinistres afin d’aider à déterminer la rentabilité et calcule les taux futurs adéquats. Aide à la commercialisation locale de la succursale; participe à des événements professionnels et sociaux et développe de nouvelles occasions d’affaires. QUALIFICATIONS Formation et licence Baccalauréat d’un collège ou d’une université accrédité(e) de préférence. Le candidat doit avoir obtenu le titre de IIA-AIC et poursuivre activement l’obtention d’un autre titre professionnel dans le domaine de l’assurance.  Une licence d’expert en sinistres est requise. Expérience Cinq (5) ans d’expérience dans le domaine concerné ou une combinaison équivalente de formation et d’expérience est requise.
