Join us as a Tech Lead – Web Platform (all genders) in our Backoffice Platform team and help shape the future of autonomous mobility! We are the Backoffice Platform Team, a cross-functional team of five engineers, a product manager, a designer, and an agilist. Together, we build the foundation for the web application that powers MOIA ‘s autonomous mobility operations and B2B services.   Our platform enables teams across MOIA to build products & features in the Backoffice with minimal friction. We provide the essential building blocks: Federated GraphQL APIs, user management, UI component library, authentication and authorisation, and build and deployment automation. We run our own serverless AWS infrastructure, embracing "you build it, you run it" principles to ensure reliability, scalability and continuous improvement.  At MOIA, the Tech Lead is a hands-on leader who leads by example, providing technical direction aligned with company strategy while empowering the team to deliver customer value. Working closely with the Product Manager and Agilist, you balance quality and delivery, foster collaboration, and create an environment that supports continuous learning. You also ensure a safe, ownership-driven culture where team members can contribute to building sustainable, high-quality systems. As part of the Web Platform Team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence and shape the future of our platform, enabling both innovation and reliability in our backoffice products.  What you will do Own and evolve our federated GraphQL architecture, acting as the technical leader in driving GraphQL strategy across the organisation  Act as the technical counterpart to Product, co-owning product vision, shaping technical strategy, and making informed trade-offs between customer value, scalability, and platform health  Build authorisation and authentication layers for our GraphQL platform – proxies, middleware, and enforcement mechanisms  Implement and improve federation patterns across multiple teams and services  Lead cross-team onboarding to the GraphQL platform, guiding teams through integration challenges and setting best practices  Build and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript on serverless AWS  Drive platform improvements end-to-end: identify systemic problems, propose technical solutions, and lead their execution  Take responsibility for running your systems ("you build it, you run it")  What will help you to fulfill your role Technical leadership experience, i.e. hands-on development while focusing on leading technical excellence  Experience partnering with Product to define vision, make trade-offs, and deliver customer-focused solutions  Strong experience with GraphQL – you understand federation, schema design, and resolver patterns  Strong backend engineering experience with Node.js/TypeScript and distributed systems  Strong understanding of security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) and ability to identify and mitigate risks in APIs and applications  Track record of building and scaling GraphQL APIs in production  Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to identify problems, drive solutions autonomously, and deliver them end-to-end  Clear and effective communicator, comfortable influencing across highly autonomous, cross-functional teams  Good German comprehension skills (minimum B1 level)  Fluent in English Nice-to-haves  Deep expertise in Apollo Federation, specifically  Experience with serverless AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.)  Knowledge of GraphQL security and authorisation patterns (field-level permissions, query complexity control, depth limiting, directive-based auth)  Experience with AWS Cognito or similar identity management systems  Understanding of platform thinking building systems that enable other engineers  Experience with DevOps practices: CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring & observability  Frontend skills in React/TypeScript  We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds — even if you don’t meet every requirement.
