Team Description:  The Cell team tests and develops battery cells to analyze their electrochemical performance, integrating insights gained to refine and transfer cell parameters into vehicle-level specifications.   Role/Responsibilities: As a summer intern on the Cell engineering team, you’ll work on the following:  Analyze lithium-ion cell degradation behavior using electrochemical data and advanced data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, JMP).  Perform in-depth interpretation of cell aging data, leveraging advanced electrochemical methodologies and analysis techniques.  Identify correlations between degradation patterns, cell chemistry, and test conditions.  Design and conduct accelerated aging experiments to validate degradation hypotheses.  Utilize existing aging data to predict cell energy under varying aging conditions.  Preferred Qualifications:  Field of study: Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field  In Master’s or PhD’s Degree Program, more than 1 year experience in lithium-ion battery field  Strong background in lithium-ion batteries and electrochemistry  Proficient in electrochemical testing, data analysis, and scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB)  Experienced in processing large batches of data using self-developed scripts  Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis  Excellent problem-solving and communication skills  Nice to Have:  Experienced in post-mortem analysis on aged cells   Skilled in cell aging modeling and energy prediction  More than 3 years of experience in lithium-ion battery field  Education:  Field(s) of study: Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or related field  Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD Degree program at an accredited university.   Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS or PhD).  Program Information:   Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.   Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.  Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment.
