AI Operations Engineer Job DescriptionWorkshop is looking for a curious, systems-oriented AI Operations Engineer to design, build, and maintain the internal AI tooling that powers how our teams work. We’re growing fast and need someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, partners effectively with senior leadership, and is eager to make AI useful, reliable, and impactful across the company and ultimately drive business outcomes. As an AI Operations Engineer, your responsibilities will span three primary areas: AI Tooling & Automation Build, maintain, and optimize internal AI tools, automations, and workflows to improve efficiency across teams. Evaluate and implement new AI technologies that can streamline processes, enhance team productivity, or unlock new/improved insights. Develop integrations between existing systems and AI platforms. Manage maintenance and updates of AI tools, ensuring they stay reliable, relevant, and secure. Build reporting to monitor tool usage, performance, and impact. Process & Maintenance Create and own processes to ensure AI systems, prompts, and workflows stay accurate and up to date. Establish best practices for documentation, versioning, and deployment of internal AI tools. Proactively identify areas where automation can replace manual work and implement improvements. Maintain a clear inventory of tools, use cases, and dependencies to ensure continuity and scale. Ensure security & compliance of current and new AI tooling. Adoption & Enablement Champion internal AI adoption by keeping teams informed, trained, and excited about new capabilities. Build resources (guides, docs, office hours, internal updates) to make AI tooling easy to use and accessible. Work cross-functionally with all departments to identify use cases, determine requirements, and iterate. Measure usage and impact of AI initiatives, communicating results to stakeholders at Workshop. To be successful at this position, you’ll need to: Have 2-4+ years of experience in operations, automation, internal tooling, or a related technical role. Be comfortable building or integrating with APIs, automation tools, or building custom software. Be highly organized, process-oriented, and capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously. Have experience working with large language models and building custom AI agents. Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and system reliability. Communicate clearly and confidently across technical and non-technical audiences. Thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and be eager to experiment with emerging tools. Bonus points if you: Have supported or built processes for knowledge management or internal documentation. Have experience working and partnering with senior management and leadership. High level of business acumen and understanding of SaaS business models. Are passionate about making AI useful and accessible to everyone, not just technical teams.   About Workshop Workshop is a fast growing, venture-backed startup based in Omaha, Nebraska and we’re on a mission to create more happy Mondays for employees everywhere. We build software to help internal communications teams create, send, and measure multi-channel, employee-centric campaigns.
