Core Responsibilities VAT Compliance & Reporting: Prepare, review, and file accurate and timely VAT returns (e.g., monthly, quarterly) for various jurisdictions (e.g., domestic, EU, international). Manage and process related compliance documentation, including EC Sales Lists, Intrastat declarations, and annual reconciliations. Ensure all VAT-related transactions are correctly accounted for and recorded in the financial system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.). Perform regular VAT general ledger account reconciliations. Advisory & Strategy: Act as the primary point of contact for internal VAT queries from various departments (e.g., Sales, Purchasing, Legal, IT). Monitor changes in VAT legislation and regulations across relevant jurisdictions and proactively assess the impact on the business. Provide advice on the VAT implications of new business initiatives, product launches, complex transactions, and supply chain changes. Identify opportunities for VAT savings and process improvements. Audits & Risk Management: Manage and coordinate VAT audits and inquiries from tax authorities. Develop, maintain, and enforce robust VAT-related internal controls and processes to mitigate risk. Ensure full documentation is maintained to support VAT positions and filings. Work with external tax advisors and legal counsel as necessary. Process Improvement & Projects: Drive continuous improvement in VAT compliance processes through automation and system enhancements. Participate in financial system upgrades or implementations (e.g., ERP configuration) to ensure accurate VAT determination and reporting. Assist with ad-hoc financial and tax projects as required. Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or any similar. • 3 - 4 years’ experience in accounting (GL preferred) • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience. • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Finance modules - advantage. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. • Technical accounting skills. • Good analytical and numeracy skills. • Ability to identify financial issues and execute mitigating actions. • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple work requirements to meet deadlines. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients.
