Job Summary   Works directly with a nurse preceptor under the direction of a Registered Nurse, assist in the development of nursing care plans and perform a variety of both technical and routine nursing services consistent with such plans.   Essential Functions   Within the RNCs, unable to perform nursing functions or items listed below independently without nurse preceptor.  May independently perform functions of CNA after skill validation with an active CNA certification.   Within the hospitals, performs activities under the direction of the nurse, per job description and after skill validation. Applies the Core concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care in practice and uses this knowledge to personalize care for each patient/family. Performs routine bedside nursing activities including: bathing and personal grooming of patients; ambulating, moving and turning patients; assisting patients with bedpans or urinary devices; making patient beds and caring for personal property. Takes vital signs and records intake and output. Applies and changes sterile and non-sterile dressing using appropriate technique. Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and policy under the direction of a nurse. Documents in electronic medical record. Keeps professional nursing staff advised of current patient status as well as changes in patient condition as they occur. Assists in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients under the supervision of a nurse.   Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent Must be enrolled in West Shore Community College CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross  90 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association  90 Days required   CRT-Nursing Assistant - Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Community and Health Systems Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Community and Health Systems Rehab and Nursing Centers Only Upon Hire required   How Corewell Health cares for you Comprehensive benefits package to meet your financial, health, and work/life balance goals.
