It is a Level II trauma center and has been recognized for clinical excellence and innovation in the fields of orthopedics, neuroscience, women’s health, heart & vascular, and cancer care.  About the unit 9 North is a 32 Bed Medical floor caring for the adult and geriatric population.  We see a variety of different medical conditions and disease processes including Cardiac, Neuro, Respiratory, Infectious Disease, and Psych.  The unit has the capability to monitor eight cardiac telemetry patients. Nurses care for patients with acute conditions and manage patients’ chronic conditions.  9 North is a phenomenal learning unit that encourages personal and professional growth and development.  Scope of work The Clinical Nurse Manager is an experienced leader responsible for managing assigned areas and services and supervising assigned patient care staff to promote the creation of a center of excellence for staff recruitment and retention and clinical and business outcomes. The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring safe and effective delivery of patient care and clinical outcomes, compliance with regulatory, administrative, and clinical standards, and policies and procedures. The Nurse Manager serves as a chief retention and safety officer. He/she ensures that safety and quality standards are upheld by effective use of data and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area of responsibility. The Nurse Manager creates and ensures a desirable, safe work environment that enables the organization to meet or exceed its mission and goals. He/she models the way to foster communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and other departments. Role specific competencies, responsibilities, roles, and functions are based on the Professional Practice Model. This position reports to the Director of Nursing or above. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Under general direction, maintains 24-hour responsibility and accountability for providing leadership and management of a designated patient care unit which promotes quality nursing care, cost effective use of resources and professional growth for nursing staff. Promotes a Patient Family Centered Care Culture. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required. Master's degree in nursing (MSN) Preferred. Three years of relevant clinical cardiac nursing experience Preferred. One year of relevant formal nursing leadership experience for external applicants Required. Two years of demonstrated informal leadership experience for internal applicants, may include but are not limited to: Charge Lead Nurse, Charge Nurse responsibilities, leadership on behalf of unit/site/system at Shared Governance Council, Preferred. MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required. AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required. AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required.
