About the unit: The  Cardiovascular Recovery Unit ( CVRU)   is a fast paced, highly specialized 9-bed critical care unit located right next to the Meijer Heart Center OR’s that is dedicated to providing world class recovery care of patients who have undergone all types of cardiac surgical procedures.  Typical surgeries include Coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), valve replacement/repair, aortic dissection repair, cardiac ablations, and TAVR’s.  Our nurses are fully ICU trained (including on IABP’s, PA catheters, sheaths, ventilators,   etc ) and provide the complete recovery care needed for these patients until they are hemodynamically stable and ready to transfer to the progressive care unit or to the Cardiothoracic ICU if the critical care needs are anticipated to last greater than 24 hrs.  Our nurses have a lot of autonomy and work very closely with the cardiac surgery team to make sure these complex patients receive everything they need to assure optimal outcomes.             Qualities :   We are looking for highly motived people who value teamwork and collaboration with other members of the health care team as these are essential to the position.   What staff are saying:   “What keeps me working on this unit would be the complexity of the patients, I’m challenged each day and pushed to look beyond the machines to the patient and family needs”   “Being on this unit is never boring, it’s constantly changing and keeps the role interesting”  “There are many devices on this unit and it’s incredible on the medical advancements that can help improve patient outcomes more than ever before”     About Meijer Heart Center   The heart and vascular systems demand extraordinary care. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes.
