If you’re ready for the challenge of providing life-saving care or supporting those who do, read on to find your fit in the Phelps Health family.   Job Summary: The Medical Instrument Courier is responsible for transporting the necessary sealed medical instruments of Phelps Health clinics both on and off campus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collect sealed, soiled medical instrument containers from Phelps Health clinics and transport them to Sterile Processing through our facility and or with the provided Phelps Health vehicle. Ensure the proper handling of both biohazard and sterilized instrument procedures Deliver containers of sealed, sterilized instruments from Sterile Processing to the specific clinic listed on the “instrument check list” form. Ensures the instruments are kept at required temperature and humidity. Collects allergy serums from the Phelps Health allergy department to and from our off-campus clinics. Ensures the allergy serums are within temperature and the allergy transport form is properly filled out at desired location. Collects safety deposit bags from various departments and transports them to our banking institution. Keeps a total count of all sealed instrument containers for each individual clinic. provide non-emergency patient transportation from their personal residence to Phelps Health and or a Phelps Health affiliate. Education High School graduate or equivalent preferred, a basic amount of education is necessary. Ability to read, write and follow directions. Work Experience One year experience in a service related field preferably in healthcare, public or healthcare transportation experience preferred. Customer service skills a must. Certification/License American Heart Association basic life support certified and current Missouri driver’s class “E” license required. Annual driver’s exam required. Mental/Physical Requirements Mental ability required to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without lifting aids. Ability to learn and understand policies and procedures related to transportation position. Annual physical and eye exam. Working Conditions May experience long periods of standing, walking or sitting in vehicle. Will come in contact with out-patients. May encounter unpleasant conditions at times during the transportation process.
