Our FCC Environmental - Pinellas County Waste to Energy facility (WTE) is currently seeking an Auxiliary Operator for monitoring and operations of WTE air pollution control equipment and municipal solid waste post combustion ash conveyance and conditioning systems.  Duties to include monitoring, operations, maintenance and housekeeping of system components such as baghouse and spray dryer absorber ash collection hoppers and associated dump valves, ash dischargers, vibratory conveyors, ash transfer drag conveyors and ash conditioning systems.  This individual would routinely conduct equipment operations inspections and equipment operations adjustments for proper, safe, compliant and efficient air pollution control, ash conditioning and ash handling systems operations.  The Auxiliary Operator routinely performs maintenance, housekeeping and minor repairs to air pollution control, ash conditioning, ash handling systems as well as other assigned auxiliary systems.  Duties may include but are not limited to: Monitor and inspect various WTE boiler combustion and air pollution control (APC) system auxiliary equipment to include: riddling conveyance and ash dischargers, vibratory conveyors, belt conveyors, ash conditioners/mixers, fabric filter and spray dryer absorber (SDA) ash conveyance, lime slurry slaker systems and slurry fluid systems, pumps, 2 fluid injection lances and other auxiliary equipment associated with air emissions control and post combustion ash handling and conditioning. Documents through shift logs and round sheets; comments that facilitate continuity of systems operations, problem tracking such as out of service components and work that needs to be performed as well as other shift activities that communicate status of plant. Maintains logs and other written documentation on schedule and with clear, accurate and legible writing. Operates designated components of facility Air Pollution Control (APC) system safely and accurately.  Compliance with all facility safety and health program and procedure as well as environmental policy and procedure.  Programs include but  not limited to Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Machine Guarding, PPE policy, Hotwork, Fall Protection, Barrier Tape/Danger Tape and Respiratory protection. Adjusts and services assigned components of the APC and ash handling and conditioning systems so that system performance is maintained appropriately for continuous and efficient air and solid waste permit compliance.  Conducts comprehensive equipment “rounds” and system operations inspections per established frequency and per established procedure and standards.  Conducts starting, stopping and adjustment of systems and components as notified by control room operator and/or shift supervisor.  Completes emergent and assigned tasks as identified by shift supervisor and as established through operations routines. Takes immediate action to address equipment upset conditions per training and established procedures. Conducts preventive maintenance on ash handling and APC system components per scheduled frequency and as required due to upset condition.  Duties may include detailed cleaning for component inspections and troubleshooting as well as replacement of wear parts, belts, gaskets and o-rings, nozzles, hoses and hardware. Works closely with maintenance to troubleshoot problems and assesses probable cause with assistance from Shift Supervisor and other members of rotating operations shift they are assigned to. Maintains work areas in a clean, neat, and organized condition at all times.  Completes the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the time frame prescribed. Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, visual assessments and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and/or potential equipment disruptions that impact facility operations.  Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio or face to face.  Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action.  Education and Experience  High School Diploma or GED (accredited) 2 years working in a power plant operation or related experience Knowledge and understanding of the operation of a steam generating power plant Mechanical abilities sufficient to perform minor equipment maintenance such as shear pin replacement, drive belt replacement, rebuilds of 2-fluid lances, conveyor alignment/adjustment, removal of inspection and access covers and removal of entangled/plugged material. Must be able to work rotating shifts. Must be able to work overtime. Physical Demand  Handle tools, equipment, and fine motor skills.  Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb Ability to lift/carry 50lbs Qualify to wear a full-face respirator Consistently work in various weather conditions Climb and walk on heights often greater than 4 feet.  Move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, and uneven surfaces.  Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, corrected or otherwise.  Operate a 1.5 inch fire hose operating at 125 PSI line pressure to the extent required to extinguish fire.  Operate fire extinguishing equipment ranging from hand held extinguishers to 200 lbs. portable units.  Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 12” by 16” manways.  PPE Required  Negative pressure respirator.  Positive pressure respirator.  Chemical resistant suit.  Heat resistant outerwear.  Flame resistant outerwear.  Environmental Conditions  Potential exposure to ash, dust, and chemicals.  Work in close proximity to heavy industrial equipment.
