This role focuses on general orthopedics and sports medicine , with an emphasis on younger, athletic patients . Experience in ACL reconstruction rehabilitation and working with competitive athletes is highly valued. A background or strong interest in sports-specific treatment is a significant plus.     A caregiver in this position works 2 late evening shifts per week (9:00am—6:30-45pm) 3 regular weekday shifts per week (7:30am—4:00pm) . Rotating Saturdays (8:00am—12:pm) are required .     A caregiver who excels in this role will:   Maintain and advance clinical expertise by pursuing continuing education, updating therapy skills, and leading or participating in staff development activities.   Contribute to program development through planning new programs , revising existing ones, improving systems, and providing regular updates to the Rehabilitation Services Manager.   Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations including medical history review, assessment of functional abilities, and interpretation of test results to identify treatment needs.   Develop and adjust treatment plans by establishing goals, administering skilled interventions, monitoring patient status, and revising plans as needed.   Ensure high-quality, accountable patient care by overseeing all aspects of treatment, delegating tasks to assistants appropriately, and supervising support personnel.   Educate patients and families on functional status, exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and post-discharge care.   Coordinate care and discharge planning through participation in rounds, interdisciplinary meetings, and patient care conferences.   Support learning and professional growth by supervising students during clinical rotations and completing performance evaluations.   Educate patients and their families about the patient's functional status, appropriate preventive and therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, and modalities for post-discharge care.   Ensure coordination of treatment goals and discharge planning by participating in patient rounds, team meetings, patient care conferences, etc.   Attend continuing education program to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy skills and current activity in the profession.   Supervise students assigned to clinical rotation in the department and prepare written evaluations of student's performance.     Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    Bachelor's D egree in P hysical therapy or O ccupational T herapy (OT)   Current Ohio licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Occupational Therapist (OT )   Three years of experience as a therapist   Demonstrated clinical competence in a particular area of practice   Demonstrated leadership in program development/process improvement projects/staff and/or student development     Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   OCS (Orthopedic Clinical Specialist) or SCS (Sports Clinical Specialist) certifications   Physical Requirements:     Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling, for example, during gait training.   Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm or leg during exercise program.   Sensation to touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient's pulse.   Visual acuity to observe patient's gross movement, gait, etc., in order to analyze biomechanical problems.   Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may not be able to read.   Ability to hear or understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.   Mental ability to interpret clinical data for the establishment and implementation of appropriate patient treatment.   Ability to identify and resolve problems using critical thinking and decision-thinking.     Personal Protective Equipment:     Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.                              The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
