Known for its continuous clinical trials and cancer research, the Taussig Cancer Center ensures all patients receive top-quality patient care and have access to the newest advances in cancer treatment.         The G110 Bone Marrow Transplant Unit is dedicated to the care of patients undergoing a bone marrow transplant for a diagnosis of leukemia, lymphoma, multiple   myeloma   and other cancers.   The highly   skilled G110 caregivers   assist   with giving patients high dose chemotherapy followed by autologous, allogeneic, umbilical cord or nonmyeloablative transplant. This unit also provides treatment of graft versus host disease and symptom management for chronic patients.     A caregiver in this position   works   days   7:00am – 7:30pm.      A caregiver who excels in this role will:    Collect,   document   and report patient data and observations.    Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.    Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and   observe   patients for adverse reactions .       Perform routine laboratory tests.   Educate patients and family members.      Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    Graduate   of   an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.    Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse      Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)   or American Red Cross     Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   One year of patient care experience   Physical Requirements: Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination. Involves extensive standing and walking. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
