This position offers aspiring nurses the opportunity to gain hands-on patient care experience while earning their degree, with scheduling flexibility designed to support academic commitments. As a Student Nurse PCNA, nursing students will build confidence and familiarity through direct interaction with patients and fellow caregivers across clinical units, while benefiting from mentorship and guidance from experienced nursing professionals. This role serves as an excellent pathway into a full-time nursing career at Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts, as needed based on the departmental needs and availability. Hours during weekends and holidays will be available to work. These positions are for active RN nursing students that have completed at least one clinical rotation. All other candidates are encouraged to apply for our other nursing support roles.   A caregiver who excels in this role will:    Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.    Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.    Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.      Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    A high school diploma or GED   Currently enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)   Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)    Units available: H71 DDI Surg Ortho-Main Campus Hospital G80 General Internal Medicine-Main Campus Hospital G81 ENT/Plastics & Internal Medicine -Main Campus Hospital H50 Colorectal Surgery-Main Campus Hospital G111 Leukemia-Main Campus Hospital H81 Internal Med Telemetry-Main Campus Hospital G110 Bone Marrow Transplant-Main Campus Hospital G91 General Surgery-Main Campus Hospital G71-Main Campus Hospital H80 Internal Medicine Telemetry-Main Campus Hospital J73 Cardiovascular Stepdown 3-Main Campus Hospital J82 Heart/Lung Transplant-Main Campus Hospital G70 Hematology Oncology-Main Campus Hospital Responsibilities: Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to RN. Other duties as assigned Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Physical Requirements: Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
