You will work with   state-of-the-art   technology and will build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world .          As a Pulmonary Function Technician, you will provide   a diagnostic   evaluation of pulmonary functioning in patients managing respiratory insufficiencies. Collaborating with fellow Techs, physicians,   RNs   and other healthcare staff, you will   utilize   the latest technologies, including robotic and advanced bronchoscopies, to ensure patients receive the best treatment possible.   Additional   responsibilities include m easuring respiratory exchange , analyz ing   arterial   bloo d   gases,   and perform ing   cardiopulmonary assessments.   Ultimately, your   efforts will focus on slowly weaning patients from   continuous   ventilation, helping improve outcomes and quality of life.      A caregiver in this position works   Monday-Friday   from 7:00AM –   4 :30PM , including rotating holidays and on-call requirements.     A caregiver who excels in this role will:    Perform ordered pulmonary function, methacholine   testing   and pulmonary stress testing .   Perform and analyze quality control data   and   advanced invasive or noninvasive   protocols .   D esign and perform investigatory protocols.   Manage the Pulmonary Function Laboratory, including scheduling and ordering supplies.   Facilitate services for home care patients.   Prepare,   maintain   and calibrate pulmonary function testing equipment.   Maintain adequate levels of supplies used for testing.   Troubleshoot   equipment problems and report needed repairs/replacements.   Provide educational in-services to staff, advanced practice   nurses   and physician assistants.   At sites where applicable, perform blood gas puncture and analysis.      Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    Associate’s Degree   from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the NBRC   Florida Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) License   Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification   through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross     Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    Bachelor’s Degree   One year of patient care experience   Physical Requirements: Ability to administer six-minute walk tests at a pace of at least 3.0 mph (average walking speed), ability to move K cylinders onto dollies, ability to change gas cylinder regulators with a wrench and ability to lift boxes up to 25 pounds in weight. Ability to perform pulmonary function tests for demonstration purposes and for the collection of biological control data for QC purposes. Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
