You will work alongside passionate and dedicated caregivers, receive endless support and appreciation, and build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world.  In a direct patient facing environment, the infection preventionist professional implements, promotes and maintains an active infection prevention program through surveillance, investigative activities, consultation, education, policy development and research.  A caregiver in this position works 8:00am to 4:30pm but can be flexible. Requirements include being on-call once per month. A caregiver who excels in this role will:   Conduct surveillance for hospital acquired infections; analyzes data. Generates reports, identifies trends.  Provide recommendations for improvement.  Investigate clusters of infections, outbreaks.  Utilize knowledge of microbiology, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of patient care equipment.  Develop and implement infection prevention policies and procedures.  Conduct audits on infection prevention practices.  Provide education and serves as a consultant to various levels of care providers.  Coordinate infection prevention committee meetings and other related activities.  Coordinate the annual infection prevention risk assessment, review, and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention plan. Reports communicable diseases as required by the Ohio Department of Health.  Collaborate with health departments in complying with issues related to outbreaks and control of communicable diseases.  Comply with mandates for state and federal public reporting of hospital acquired infections.  Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   Bachelor's degree  Three years of recent relevant clinical experience including nursing, infection prevention, respiratory therapy, or medical technolog  Strong communication, clinical assessment, and computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related programs)  Certified in Infection Control - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc  CBIC is required after two years of hire date  CBIC Certification will offset one year of required experience  Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   Registered Nurse (RN)  Why You'll Love Working with Us: 403(b) Savings & Investment Plan Investment Pension Plan (IPP)  Tuition Reimbursement Paid Time Off (PTO)  Employee Discounts Dental and Vision Plans  Life Insurance and Disability  Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.                         The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
