Here, you will receive endless support and appreciation while building a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world.     Phlebotomy Technicians are essential members of the medical laboratory team, responsible for the   accurate   and efficient collection of blood samples from patients. Because many individuals—children, teens, and adults alike—may feel anxious or fearful about needles or the blood-draw process, skilled phlebotomists play a critical role in creating a calm, reassuring experience. By using   strong communication   skills, empathy, and proper technique, they help put patients at ease while obtaining high-quality specimens.   There is also significant opportunity for professional growth within the department, including roles such as Lead Phlebotomist, Team Lead, or Supervisor, as well as advancement throughout the Cleveland Clinic   system .   A caregiver in this position   works   days,   7:30am—12:00pm.     A caregiver who excels in this role will:    Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture   procedures   and   maintain   appropriate log   sheets.    Verify order requests and   identify   information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.    Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the   appropriate processing   area.   Perform specimen processing and send out tasks,   including accessioning ,   centrifugation   and packaging.    Pick up and deliver blood, other sample   types   and lab supplies.      Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    High   S chool   D iploma or GED   Technical   proficiency   with standard procedures,   techniques   and common practices   Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment     Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   Formal   P hlebotomy   C ertification   Experience strongly preferred   Trouble shooting and   problem-solving   skills   Demonstrate the ability to work under minimal supervision   Can excel in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment     Physical Requirements: Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking. Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors. Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.
