Toolmaker Alters and repairs molds of complex and precise nature. Also makes, alters, and repairs gauges, jigs and fixtures, special machines, and other devices. Requires ability to setup and operate all types of tool room equipment and improvises where equipment is limited. Requires ability to plan and lay out work, determine accurate and efficient methods, read and interpret complicated drawings and work to extremely close tolerances using precision tool room equipment and measuring characteristics of steels and other common metals and their heat treating processes. Must use considerable specialized knowledge and ingenuity in diagnosing and correcting mold deficiencies and to accomplish work quickly and accurately when time is critical. May direct or train others in performing mold deficiency work. Keeps spare parts inventory for molds. Does tool work as instructed, if needed in other areas than tool room. Help and assist where needed.
