Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely. About the Role Deliver specialised withdrawal management (detox) nursing care, including clinical assessments, mental and physical health support, and referrals for addiction medical treatment when required. Provide services in a safe, culturally appropriate manner that meets the immediate physical, emotional, and mental health needs of individuals undergoing detox, aligning with The Salvation Army’s mission, values, relevant legislation, and clinical guidelines. How You Will Make an Impact You will provide nursing assessment, support, and treatment in accordance with: Queensland Alcohol and Drug Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines Recovery Services Policy and Procedure Additional responsibilities include: Collaborating with visiting and onsite medical officers as required. Dispensing and administering medications to manage withdrawal symptoms in line with clinical guidelines. Completing essential clinical tasks such as admissions, discharges, case notes, documentation, and shift handovers. What You Will Bring Tertiary qualification in Nursing and current registration with AHPRA. Minimum two years’ experience in alcohol and other drug (AOD) nursing, including experience working with individuals with mental health conditions. Demonstrated knowledge of withdrawal management guidelines and related issues. Strong skills in triage, clinical assessment, decision-making, nursing interventions, and crisis support. Demonstrated competence in infection control practices. A minimum of two years in recovery (if applicable). Well-developed clinical nursing skills and understanding of professional practice requirements. Ability to work collaboratively, contribute positively to team meetings and activities, and uphold professional work ethics at all times. Willingness and availability to work weekends and overnight shifts. Current driver’s licence.
