The St Kilda 24/7 Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) is part of The Salvation Army Crisis Services network and works collaboratively with the Crisis Contact Centre and Access Health (among other community services) to provide comprehensive support to our clients. About the role   As a Needle and Syringe Program Worker, this is your opportunity to work within a Harm Reduction framework in the provision of services in a welcoming environment, free from judgment and prejudice. Reporting to the Client Services Coordinator, this is a permanent part-time role offering 26 hours per week, located in St Kilda, VIC.  Hours of work are: Tues 11pm-9am, Wed 11pm-9am & Fri 5pm-11pm How you will make an impact    Ensure injecting equipment and safe-sex products are distributed promptly, without Outcomes judgement, and in a manner that encourages clients to return when they are next in need of products Provide accurate information about drugs, reducing harm, injecting related injuries and diseases and sexually transmitted infections when requested and appropriate Ensure clients are greeted by a friendly, professional and alert person when they attend the NSP Provide accurate information about, and referrals made to, relevant health, housing, legal, family violence, welfare and community services Ensure confidentiality and anonymity is strictly maintained Respond to telephone enquiries with accurate information and appropriate referral Ensure data is collected where appropriate on the NSPISAR software Participate in team meetings with thoughtful and respectful contributions, and taking minutes on a rostered basis Adequately stock the NSP throughout the shift, and ensure it is fully stocked on handover of shift Perform of other duties as required What you will bring   Tertiary qualification or equivalent in the specific or related field is essential Current knowledge, skills and/or previous experience is essential Level 2 First Aid Certificate (training will be provided) A willingness to undergo a National Police Record Check is required A current VIC employee Working with Children Check What we offer   The Salvos offer eligible employee's a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including:   Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.  Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities.  Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives incl Fitness Passport  Ongoing training and development opportunities that enhance on the job skills and proficiency.  Rewarding and fulfilling purpose driven careers that have positive and sustainable / social impacts.  Conditions  Compensation is in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 4 How to apply: Are you ready to make a difference and help individuals rebuild their lives? Please submit your resume and cover letter detailing your alignment with the role's requirements. Together, we can create lasting change and build a more inclusive and compassionate community.  Applications will close  as soon as a suitable candidate is secured.    The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people.
