The Doorways Team provide person-centred trauma informed care, facilitate short-term financial assistance, and walk side-by-side with participants as they build the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty.   About the role     As a Doorways FAS Intake Worker, this is your opportunity to triage community members, on the basis of client need and the site’s available resources, to an appointment with the ER Assessor and / or to alternate assistance such as a food parcel, casework or referral to another internal or external service.   Reporting to the Doorways Site Coordinator, this is a permanent full-time role, located in Dandenong, VIC.   How you will make an impact      Work collaboratively with the Doorways team, including the Coordinator, Case Worker, Emergency Relief Assessor, Receptionist, and Volunteers, to provide prompt, empathic, trauma-informed, and culturally safe responses to client needs in line with The Salvation Army’s No Wrong Door Policy, Mission, Vision & Values, and organisational policies.   Provide a welcoming first point of contact for community members via phone, email, and walk-in, assess immediate needs,   assist   Dari and   Farsi   speaking clients to communicate their needs, and refer appropriately to on-site supports or alternative services when   assistance   cannot be provided.   Create and   maintain   a safe and supportive environment by responding appropriately to challenging behaviours Accurately manage administrative and compliance requirements Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including   timely   case notes, referrals, and relationship building with Corps Officers and key staff, while contributing cultural insights and   participating   in ongoing professional development to enhance service delivery.     What you will bring     A Diploma (preferred)   or Certificate IV (minimum )   qualification in   Community   Demonstrated e xperience working in the community services sector  Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds   Understanding of Trauma Informed Care Framework is necessary   Fluent in English as well as Dari and Farsi preferred, due to the communities we support.
