The selected intern is expected to report to the offi ce up to three   times per   week or as   determined by the team.  This internship may be considered remote for an indi vidual   in the Seattle area.     Locations:    Mountain View, California   Sunnyvale, California     About the Team   Our team, part of GM's AV( Autonomous Vehicles ) organization, collaborates closely with the Operations Team. Our primary function is to develop and implement products that help them efficiently manage our extensive data collection vehicle fleet. This role is well-suited for individuals who have a strong product focus and a consistent drive to meet customer needs. We also incorporate generative AI into both our development tools and the products we create.     About The Role:    We are looking for an intern with strong engineering fundamentals and who is passionate about   e nabling effective business   operations.   As a member of this team, we are looking for someone who cares deeply about the quality of software and products the team owns.     The way this enginee r wil l deliver impact may vary depending on the situation but they will be expected to partner effectively with other engineers, take feedback and guidance from more experienced team members, and deliver effective and reliable solutions to tasks at hand.     What You’ll D o:   Develop and maintain software   for managing diverse   fleets of GM vehicle s (R&D and production).   Optim ize so ftware performance and reliability for real-world deployment   Leverage the guidance and experience of more   senior e ngineers on the team to identify engineering pain points and implement solutions that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable.   Effectively communicate the status of their work.   Follow software engineering best practices within your team.   Contribute to the engineering cultur e on the t eam.   Contribute to real-world services   and gain practical experience with   Go, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, GCP , and supporting tools such as   Buildkite   and   OpenTelemetry     Required Qualifications:   Current ly e nrolled in a full-time, degree-seeki ng progra m and in the process of obtaining a Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field.   Academic exposure to distributed systems concepts, including scalability, reliability, or fault   tolerance .   Experience writing Go, Python, or similar languages through coursework, internships, or project work     Understanding of Unix/Linux, SSH, and networking fundamentals.   Able   to wor k fulltime, 40 hours per week.     Preferred Qualifications:    Attention to detail, and a desire to improve processes and systems around you.   Experience with GCP.   Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.   Passion for self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world.   Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the   internship.   Graduating between December 2026 and   August   2027.     Compensation:   The monthly salary range for this role is $ 7,300   – $9,2 00   per month    GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2026 Student Program.     What   you’ll   get from us (Benefits):   Paid US GM Holidays   GM Family First Vehicle Discount Program   Result-based potential for growth within GM   Intern events to network with company leaders and peers
