The Role Proofpoint is seeking a Category Buyer to support our Global Procurement organisation by managing high-volume buying tasks, coordinating sourcing activity, analysing spend, and contributing to category strategy—primarily across non-marketing services such as IT, Professional Services, Facilities, HR, Operations, and other indirect categories.   This is a fast-paced, high-activity role requiring strong organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise competing demands. It is designed as a development pathway into Category Manager and Strategic Sourcing Manager roles. Your Day To Day High-Volume Operational Buying Manage a large volume of purchase requisitions, renewals, and vendor communications. Ensure timely processing and accurate data entry in procurement systems. Maintain documentation and track procurement activity across multiple categories simultaneously.   Sourcing & Category Support Support RFx processes, supplier research, and initial proposal evaluation. Prepare negotiation materials and assist in supplier discussions under supervision Maintain category trackers, sourcing pipelines, and supplier records in a rapid-response environment.   Contracting & Supplier Management Coordinate contract reviews with Legal, Finance, and stakeholders. Validate pricing, SLAs, scope, and contractual accuracy (training provided). Support supplier performance tracking and follow-up actions.   Stakeholder Coordination Engage with internal stakeholders across non-marketing categories to gather requirements and clarify needs. Ensure full alignment with procurement processes, lead times, and compliance. Support senior sourcing leads with presentations, summaries, and dashboards.   Spend & Data Analysis Run recurring procurement reports (spend, renewals, contract cycles). Identify cost-saving opportunities and supplier consolidation potential. Support continuous improvement projects targeting speed, efficiency, and governance. Qualifications Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, vendor management, or supply chain. Experience handling high-volume workloads or fast-paced operational environments strongly preferred. Strong analytical skills, able to interpret procurement data and summarise findings. High accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in high-volume processing. Exceptional organisational skills; able to manage multiple parallel tasks under time pressure. Clear, confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement ability. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint Familiarity with procurement/ERP tools (Dynamics 365, JIRA, Agiloft) is a plus.
