Within the Content & Business Products org, Localization Tech team focuses on scaling the reach of our content by localizing Netflix’s content to 35 languages for both dubbing and subtitles  (and similar use cases such as  closed captions etc). This team is responsible for building, operating and maintaining tools that allow linguists to author scripts that assist with localization workflows. A big part of our charter is to innovate on improving accessibility to our content via audio description or SDH assets.Qualifications/PreferredYou have 8+ years of experience crafting resilient, high-scale, low-latency, distributed microservices in production environments.Proficient withgRPC, GraphQL, or RESTful API design and implementation.Any experience with media pipelines or relevant domain experience.Have recent proficient experience withJava, C#, or other OO programming languages with a solid understanding of OO design principles, concurrency, multi-threading, performance tuning, and observability.Have a proven track record inarchitecting, building, and operatingdistributed systems with high availability, fault tolerance, and performance.Have solid experience in setting technical directions for engineering projects,making architectural decisions, and influencing partner and cross-functional teams.Have the ability to proactively describe complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders,driving conversations and decisions through written and/or verbal communication.Participate inour on-call rotation and lead the incident reviews.What Sets You ApartCurious about a broad range of new or unfamiliar technologies, the consumer base, and product vision.Comfortable asking questions and seeking knowledge in unfamiliar or ambiguous situations.Seek different perspectives, feedback, and relevant information to continuously grow and improve.Maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams through clear communication.Take a thoughtful, practical approach to problem-solving that considers tradeoffs and avoids over-engineering.Endeavor to elevate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of yourself and others that are conducive to fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment.Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range.
