Research Project Introduction: As the world’s leading short-video platform, TikTok faces challenges in its #RecommendationSystems, including data sparsity for new users, high timeliness requirements for live streaming, maintaining user interest diversity, and complex e-commerce recommendation chains. Traditional methods struggle with cold-start issues, live-streaming demands real-time responsiveness within short time windows (typically 30 minutes), and the single-feed format requires balancing multi-interest learning with content drift risks. The e-commerce recommendation system’s multi-stage funnel architecture (recall–ranking–re-ranking) leads to inconsistent chains, high maintenance costs, and content homogenization fatigue. This project leverages #LargeLanguageModels (LLMs) and large model technologies to address these issues. LLMs infer new users’ intentions from registration data and external knowledge to mitigate cold-start problems. Integrating #GraphNeuralNetworks (GNNs) and full-lifecycle user behavior sequences improves interest prediction accuracy. The project also explores LLMs’ generalization, long-context awareness, and end-to-end modeling to simplify e-commerce recommendation chains, enhance real-time adaptability, and improve exploratory recommendations, aiming for a streamlined system that boosts user experience, retention, and sustainable business growth.
